Credit Card Use Keeps Falling

Many banks are responding to the trend by adding rewards programs and other features to their debit cards, says Ken Lin, chief executive of Credit Karma, a website that provides free credit scores. Banks “realize the new cash cow is going to be on the debit side of the business,” he says.

These are just some of the opinions that a majority of us feel about credit cards. We enjoy the spending power that they give us but resent everything else about them. Don’t take my word for it, perform a Google search on “evil credit cards” and look at the 8 million results.

Sallie Mae as one of the nations largest student loan organizations just released some statistics. What caught my eye is that the college student is carrying an excess of $3000 in CREDIT CARD debt.

But it wasn’t only our users, we had our own issues with PayPal too!  The amount they were charging for other currencies was really high (3% transaction + 3% for currency exchange + not-so-good exchange rates).  This was OK at the beginning when we had a few transactions per day, but now that we have a higher volume we felt that it was important to start to process payment ourselves.
